One tool to help you with your writing is the customised Word template that we like our authors to use for their scripts.

Writing template in word

The Word template contains a series of easy-to-use style sheets for headings, introductory text, body text, quotations, sources, figure texts, tables, etc. Instead of designing the chapter heading or a table yourself by choosing the font, font size, bold, italics, etc., you click on ready-made buttons in the template's toolbar and the text is designed automatically. This saves you time and effort and helps you see the structure of the text.

Help with the template

Don't hesitate to contact your editor or teaching developer if you have any questions about the template. Feel free to email a "test chapter" so that we can check that everything works before you get too far along in your work.

The writing template is an enrolment template

Please note that the writing template is a template for entering manuscripts - it is not a layout template. When the publisher continues to work on your manuscript in various ways, we use the format templates you have chosen. We then transfer your typed manuscript to a layout template in the InDesign programme and give the book the graphic design it needs. If you have been careful, the risk of misunderstandings in the design of the book pages is reduced. This saves a lot of time and effort in proofreading.

PC or Mac?

You can use the same template whether you are working on PC or Mac, and it is not linked to any specific version of Word. However, the instructions are different for PC and Mac. Below you can download both the template and the instructions.
